IWMI Signs 10-Year MoU for Collaborative Agricultural Water Management at the Guemgwang Reservoir Test Watershed

Date: March 18, 2025 Venue: Rural Research Institute, Korea Rural Community Corporation

A 10-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed to establish a collaborative framework for the efficient supply and use of agricultural water in the Goldgwang Reservoir test watershed, located in Anseong-si, Gyeonggi-do and managed by the Anseong Branch of the Korea Rural Community Corporation.

This agreement is based on an industry–academia–research cooperation model among the Integrated Watershed Management Institute (IWMI), the Rural Research Institute of the Korea Rural Community Corporation (KRC), and the Department of Rural Systems Engineering at Seoul National University.

Under this MoU, IWMI will install and maintain monitoring equipment within the test watershed, analyze the collected data, and share the results with relevant institutions. The Rural Research Institute of KRC will establish a cooperation and support system with the Anseong Branch and conduct comparative analyses with other watersheds using the monitoring data. Seoul National University will carry out in-depth analysis based on the collected data to develop integrated management strategies for agricultural water.

Through this collaboration, the participating institutions aim to make a practical contribution to building a more scientific, efficient, and sustainable agricultural water management system.
