IWMI Presents Climate Change Impact Research at the 2024 Korean Society of Climate Change Research Conference
Event: 2024 Fall Conference of the Korean Society of Climate Change Research Date: November 27–29, 2024 Venue: Jeju International Convention Center Organizer: Korean Society of Climate Change Research Presentation Fields: Climate Change Science, Climate Change Adaptation, Climate Change Policy, Climate Change and Energy, Greenhouse Gas Reduction, Greenhouse Gas Inventory, and Climate Change Governance
At the 2024 Fall Conference of the Korean Society of Climate Change Research, Alisa, Senior Researcher at IWMI, delivered an oral presentation titled “Evaluation of the Climate Change Impacts on Streamflow by Multiple GCMs Application in Chungmi-cheon Watershed.”
This study evaluated the impacts of climate change on streamflow in the Chungmi-cheon watershed using multiple Global Climate Models (GCMs). The research highlighted the importance of climate change adaptation and sustainable water resources management.
The main contents of the study are as follows:
- Application of Multiple GCMs Future climate conditions in the Chungmi-cheon watershed were simulated using climate change scenarios based on multiple GCMs, and the resulting changes in streamflow were assessed.
- Hydrological Modeling Using SWAT The SWAT hydrological model was applied to simulate streamflow changes under both historical and future climate conditions, providing detailed insights into hydrological changes caused by climate change.
- Adaptation Strategies Based on the research findings, watershed management and climate adaptation strategies were proposed, receiving strong interest from both academic and practical perspectives.
This presentation provided reliable, data-driven results and served as a foundation for further research on practical climate adaptation measures.
IWMI will continue to conduct meaningful and impactful research related to climate change and strengthen its role in the field of climate change adaptation both in Korea and internationally.
