2nd Lao Savanakhet Invitation Training

IWMI was delighted to complete an absolute training between 12th-18th May 2024 recently.

All Lao participants including vice governor of Savanakhet Province, Director of irrigation department and 8 government officers and authorities related to agricultural field and project had participated accordingly.

The invitation training was under “ Invitation Training for Intergrated Irrigated Agricultural & Rural Development Project in Savannakhet Province“ project, which had gone through the purpose to introduce to expert knowledges and cases to Korea’s comprehensives rural development and agricultural and rural development plans tailored to the country’s circumstances rural development.

All trainers involved to strengthen the project capabilities to promote smooth project implementation and enhance the abilities to stablish future development policies and execute similar projects in Laos.

The field trip was conducted to introduce all participants to Ongpo Irrigation area where rural water development project were implemented, and visited Multi-purpose rural water development project, water management automation system in Seongeup District. Moreover, participants had a chance to visit Gileum pumping station in Pyeongtaek to survey and learn how the pumping in Korea was installed with efficient management system.

Lastly, smart farm was introduced as a case study on smart agriculture development system in Korea at Cheonan strawberry farm.

Throughout the site visiting, participants would be able to apply related comprehensive rural development strategy and ideas to Lao agricultural and rural development efficiently and effectively.
